Chania Hikes, is a licenced tour agent by the Tourism Regulatory Authority and is a member of the Tour Operators Society of Kenya (TOSK).
Key focus is agritourism, aimed at diversifying specific farms and related community incomes through: farming education (best practices), catering (from farm to plate and drinks), cultural entertainment and accommodation (agri-accommodation) and sale of carvings, artwork and other communal gems.
New markets for produce are also established, not withstanding employment opportunities and other value adding links to the community’s exposure to the outside world. This is an untapped potential in Kenya, practically an open cheque book for inclusion in tourism!!
Do you know that you can add any attraction (including the rural attractions that we have always taken for granted) to tourist circuits as “experiences” away from the flooded “destinations” markets. This would be a great addition to agritourism visitors to be covered in tour circuits, or even immediately for tourists in the traditional holiday/destination markets that already exist.
You can also become the promoter for attractions that you do not own (as a self employed market development officer) and make good money ($ from foreigners!!).
